I visit Wendy’s drive through almost every day. I order the same thing – “Give me a chicken BLT Salad with two ranch dressings and a class of ice water. Not bottle water. Please give me ice water.” “That will be $4.55,” she says, ”Please pull up to the first window.” It’s the same sweet lady. She knows what I’m going to order as soon as she hears my voice. I always get the same thing at Wendy’s. I order, pay, and drive away with my Chicken BLT Salad and two ranch dressings. It’s fast. I get my food and drive off.
Sometimes I wish God would answer prayer that quick but there is usually a waiting period. God knows what I’m going to ask for as soon as he hears my voice. But it typically takes a lot longing. There is no drive through window. It’s slow. I don’t always get what I order but I always get what I need.
